Our Wig & Single-Donor Hair Donation Policy

At Ahead of Beauty, we are deeply grateful for the generosity and support of our community. Donations play a vital role in helping us provide wigs to individuals experiencing hair loss due to cancer, alopecia, and other medical conditions. We are incredibly thankful for your support, whether through wig donations, financial contributions, or helping us spread awareness. Every form of support brings us closer to helping someone feel confident and whole again.

Single-Donor Hair Donations (hair cut from individuals)

**While we truly appreciate the thought and intention behind single-donor (“ponytail”) hair donations, we are unable to accept SINGLE-DONOR (“PONYTAIL”) HAIR DONATIONS at this time**
The reason for this is due to the strict quality standards required for human hair wig production. A significant portion of donated hair does not meet the necessary criteria (such as length, condition, uniformity, and processing requirements), making it difficult for us to use effectively within our current production model.
 
To ensure consistency, quality, and safety in every wig we provide, our organization sources hair through established, reputable suppliers who specialize in ethically obtained and professionally processed human hair. We work with trusted partners both domestically and internationally who meet industry standards for quality, traceability, and responsible sourcing. This approach allows us to create durable, natural-looking wigs that meet the needs of those we serve.
  

So Where Can You Donate Single-Donor Hair

If you are interested in donating hair, we encourage you to consider organizations that specialize in collecting and processing hair donations, such as Locks of Love. These organizations are equipped to handle the specific requirements involved in transforming donated hair into wigs.
 

Wig Donations

We gladly accept donations of new or gently used wigs for our Wig Bank. These donations allow us to directly serve individuals in need and expand access to high-quality hair solutions. At Ahead of Beauty, we are committed to providing high-quality wigs that help individuals feel confident, comfortable, and cared for. To ensure every recipient receives a wig that meets our standards, we ask that all donated wigs meet the following criteria:

New or like-new condition
*Clean and free of odors (including smoke or strong fragrances)
*Tangle-free and manageable
*Structurally intact (no significant shedding, bald spots, or damage to the cap) 
*Maintaining original shape and style (or easily restorable)
*Human hair ONLY
 
Gently Used Wig Criteria
 
A gently used wig is one that:
 * Has been worn minimally
* Shows little to no visible wear
* Has not been significantly altered (e.g., excessive cutting, thinning, or damage)
* Can be safely cleaned, sanitized, and restored for another wearer
 
To maintain the dignity and comfort of our recipients, we are unable to accept wigs that are:
 
* Heavily worn or showing significant signs of use
* Matted, excessively tangled, or shedding
* Damaged caps, stretched lace, or broken construction
* Strong odors (including smoke or mildew)
* Show significant adhesive residue from previous installations
* Heavily customized, or difficult to sanitize
* Costume wigs, low-quality novelty pieces and/or synthetic wigs

 Many individuals receiving wigs through our Wig Bank are navigating medical challenges. Providing clean, high-quality wigs ensures not only safety and hygiene, but also restores confidence during a vulnerable time.
